Most demanded areas in Barcelona are l'Eixample (which includes the famous Passeig de Gracia shopping street) as well as Sagrada Familia Gaudi's most famous building. L'Eixample is divided into two sections, L'Esquerra de L'Eixample and Eixample Dret, in those areas the average room price is around 470-480€ a month. L'Esquerra de L'Eixample is the favorite neighborhood for young people. They are attracted by its location close to the University of Barcelona and a lively nightlife to guarantee a balance between studies and leisure. The average monthly rent price here could be as high as 480-490€ a month. Other areas with high demand are Gracia or Sarria-Sant Gervasi. Gracia district is famous because of their particular tradition to decorate the streets in middle of August and Sarria Sant Gervasi considered one of the most exclusive districts of Barcelona. Other popular areas are the ones close to Plaza Catalunya like the Gothic Quarter, the Raval, El Born or Old Town. El Born is home to a large community of creative professionals and is just a 10-minute walk from Pompeu Fabra University. The rooms in this neighborhood cost about 460€ a month on average. On the opposite side the less expensive areas of Barcelona to rent a room includes Les Corts, Sants or Sant Andreu, on those areas the average price gets reduced to 420-440€a month. TIP: Those prices fluctuates along the year, if you are planning to move in to Barcelona you should know that September is the most difficult month to rent a room, many people is looking for accommodation at the same time and rooms are rented extremely quick. All students are coming to the city to start their studies on September, so if you have the choice to choose when you are coming to the city we recommend you as a tip to choose one of the months with less demand like February, March or November and try to avoid September, October, June and January.
